Blender: To make a proper Green Drink you’ll need a good Blender. Blendtec and Vitamix both make good ones. Plan on spending at least $300 for a new version of either Brand. When I first started Blending I used a Lesser Brand Blender. It didn’t liquify the ingredients well and I had to chew to swallow them and It was frustrating. So I really recommend investing in a good Blender.
Preparing the ingredients: I prep the Green ingredients by putting them into a 1 gallon plastic freezer bag. In order to make this as a sustainable lifestyle practice I make it a easy as possible to make the Green Drink every morning. Prepping the veggies into plastic bags and freezing them helps make it sustainable and helps make the Green Drink taste better by making it cold to room temp after blending. I usually prep and freeze 28-30 days worth of veggies at a time. Grocery Stores are now selling pre-washed Kale, Spinach and Collard Greens that cut the prep time in half. Your local Super Walmart has very good pricing and selection of these pre-washed veggies and also has good prices and selection on bulk, bagged organic apples, lemons and limes. Ingredients in one bag: Raw Green Good Stuff: ( I buy organic when possible but not necessary)
I don't like mustard greens so don't use them because they are really strong. You can use any vegetables but I Iike to put stuff in green drink that I don’t usually eat in a meal on a regular basis. Bulk it up with:
Sweeten the drink with:
Make it drinkable with water. Depending on consistency I want, I put as much water as I can fit in my 96oz container with all ingredients but it usually comes out the consistency of a milk shake. I can suck through a straw. Recently I have been using cran-grape, grape, or apple juice from Costco instead of half of the water previously and instead of the 3 ounces of honey or agave nectar. If you don’t use frozen greens then you will need to add ice instead of some of the water or juice to keep it from getting too warm, assuming you like it room temp or cooler. You can use any green stuff as a substitute for any of the greens in this recipe. The fruits, nuts and seeds can be substituted with other kinds of similar items as well . There are a lot of green drink recipes floating around on the internet especially on youtube. Order for making the drink:
